What happened to
Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow has been ruled out of the remainder of Thursday Night Football’s game against the Baltimore Ravens with a right wrist injury.
It happened on the Bengals’ scoring drive midway through the second quarter, when the 26-year-old Burrow held his right wrist in pain after throwing a four-yard touchdown pass to running back Joe Mixon.
Burrow went to the blue medical tent on the sideline and was seen unable to throw the football moments later on an Amazon Prime Video broadcast.
Why is benched
Joe Burrow became the NFL’s highest-paid player on Friday. Two days later, the Cincinnati Bengals quarterback was benched in his team’s season opener.
After struggling to hold on to the football on a wet day in Cleveland, the 26-year-old took a seat in the fourth quarter during the Bengals’ 24-3 loss to the Browns, the 100th meeting between the two Buckeye State rivals.
It is unclear at this time whether or not Cincinnati head coach Zac Taylor made the decision to include backup Jake Browning due to Burrow’s injury. The former LSU star suffered a calf strain during training camp and was largely inactive this preseason before taking the field against the Browns on Sunday.
